Why I Want To Be A Teacher

The big, bright smile on a student’s face when they understand a new math concept or can read a book on their own can make any teacher’s heart melt.  This is the joy and excitement I have received over the last year as a kindergarten ESE teacher.  There is no greater reward in knowing you are preparing a student for the future and contributing to their growth and success in life.  I had to take a little journey before I decided to venture into education, but once submerged in the teaching world I know it is the right path for me now.
It seems to be the reoccurring story but I earned an International Business Degree at the University of South Florida.  The business world was full of thrill and excitement that eventually started to fade away.  During an internship with NASCAR I began to realize I was not fully satisfied with the work that I was doing.  After completing the internship I moved back home and started to substitute teach.  My mother has been a teacher for over 30 years and has gained such joy and pleasure from her job.  Substitute teaching was the best decision I could have made and quickly learned I truly love the educational world.
This is my second year as an ESE Teacher in Kindergarten.  It is such a pleasure knowing I am making a difference in each child’s life.   Seeing their excitement and their confidence grow each time they understand a new concept is the best feeling in the world.  Entering into the educational world has allowed me to find the fulfillment I was looking for in a career.
